New Martin Collins surface for Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre
Leading equestrian surface manufacturer, Martin Collins have come to the rescue after a disastrous flooding at Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre.
Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre was started by Sister Mary Joy Langdon in 1989 in a muddy field in west London, with two ponies. Since then it has grown into a thriving charity providing riding, horse therapy and horse care lessons to 350 inner city children and young people each year.
In 1994 Martin Collins donated a surface to the charity and they have put their trust in the company ever since. After the deluge of wet weather back in April 2018 the entire area of Wormwood Scrubs in West London became completely flooded. Sadly, Wormwood Scrubs Pony Centre got hit the worst and the arena was ruined, the drains were blocked and the surface was completely waterlogged and unfit for use. After reassurance from the Council that the issue was resolved in early 2019, Martin Collins Enterprises got to work replacing the surface. It now boasts a Martin Collins Activ-Track surface which is used at equestrian centres and equestrian facilities around the world.
Nick Collins, General Manager commented
"We are delighted to be able to help the Wormwood Scrubs Pony Charity. They are such a valuable asset to the community in West London and it was so devastating for them to be hit by the appalling weather last year. But now they are back in business and with their Activ-Track surface they will be able to offer their customers and equines a safe, all weather experience all year round.”
