London’s Olympia Horse Show - the World’s Best Equestrian Christmas Party - is fast approaching. Running from 15-21 December, it features both top class international competitions for Show Jumping, driving and dressage, and some exciting displays.
This is the 20th year Martin Collins will be supplying and installing the multi-purpose equestrian surface at this most prestigious event and the preparations have already begun, with the first set of lorries set to arrive in London this Thursday (10 December).
Following the introduction of a new Polytrack blend variation of the Ecotrack surface last year which was extremely well received, the same surface will be used again. It has been specially created to offer both a high performance dressage arena for the first two days of the Show and a consistent show jumping surface for the hotly contested international classes including The Longines FEI World Cup on the Sunday (20 December) and The Olympia Grand Prix finale event on the final night (Monday 21 December).
In addition to the competitions, Olympia is also set to stage displays which include:
- World renowned horseman Jean-François Pignon who will be returning to centre stage to wow the crowds with his skills of natural horsemanship
- The Musical Ride of The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment which is packed full of daredevil maneuvers and skillful high speed cross-overs.
Show Director, Simon Brooks-Ward said: “Olympia, The London International Horse Show, is the ultimate celebration of equestrianism. Every year we endeavour to bring the very best horsemen and women from around the world to London for this truly special occasion.”
The ultimate equestrian surface solution
Olympia is just one of the world’s most prestigious sporting venues which install Martin Collins equestrian surfaces to provide a multi-purpose solution which the competitors trust and which can withstand the intensive use by the different equestrian disciplines and displays.
Ecotrack, the international competition surface, is a combination of CLOPF fibre, high-grade industrial silica sand and PVC, which is carefully weighed and blended with a wax coating to offer different variants suitable for different disciplines.
